My next exhibition entitled 'First Love' will speak of love in its myriad forms.
What I hope to convey in paint may be love for another person, expressed as a connection to a first beloved pet or love for an idea which in time becomes an obsession that defines an entire life.
This photograph of someone else’s childhood resounds with me because in the photo of the little girl I can see something of myself at her age. She looks remarkably similar to photos of myself and in her attempt to make friends with the fawn I can feel all of the yearning and imagination of my younger self. What she desires is what many of us did at that age; to have a special bond with a pet and experience a friendship that goes beyond speaking but exists purely on an emotional and tactile level.
